The Lafourche Parish Government is looking to adopt its 2010 budget Tuesday, Nov. 24, at its regularly scheduled council meeting.
However, before the Lafourche Parish Council can approve the budget, the public has the right to make any comments or recommendations to the parish about concerns in their neighborhoods.
The parish council has scheduled two open forums for residents to voice their concerns.

For about three weeks the Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities director position, previously held by Brennan Matherne, has been vacant.
In early August, Matherne vacated his administrative post to become the parish's public information officer.
At last week's meeting, the administration presented the council with an ordinance that would eliminate the Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities head, and place parks and recreation under Community Action and public facilities under Public Works.

On Sept. 1, 2008, 115 mph winds from Hurricane Gustav tore away a large part of the Barrios building's roof, allowing rain to cause severe water damage to the interior and forcing the parish to leave within a week.
Forced to find a new Emergency Operations Center, the parish settled in the old Wal-Mart building, 4876 La. 1 in Mathews.

Storm-damaged chairs used by council members are giving way, prompting them to buy new ones, along with a large desk for their meeting area at the old Wal-Mart on La. 1.
On Aug. 11, members voted unanimously in favor of a resolution on the matter from Councilman Phillip Gouaux.
"When you have to sit down for four-hour meetings, you need to be as comfortable as possible so you don't tire out because of how you are sitting," Gouaux said.

The storm-devastated chairs that cradle council members bottoms are giving way, prompting council members to vote to have the administration purchase new chairs and a desk.
